lacrosse player optIn an effort to protect athletes’ smiles, Minnesota-based orthodontist Trudy Bonvino, DDS, MS, has donated mouth guards to 300 lacrosse players in the Lakeville Lacrosse Association.

“The last thing you want is to be in orthodontic treatment and well on your way to a beautiful smile when you get a tooth broken or knocked out from a sporting accident,” said Bonvino, who is an orthodontist at Cosmopolitan Orthodontics, which has locations in Lakeville and Prior Lake. “We’re working to prevent that.”

For those lacrosse players who already have mouth guards, they are invited to bring them to either of Cosmopolitan’s offices and have them inspected to make sure they fit correctly.
