Planmeca unveiled three new Planmeca Viso imaging systems at the International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, Germany.

Features of the Planmeca Viso G1

The Planmeca Viso G1 imaging unit is the latest addition to the range of Planmeca Viso CBCT devices. According to the company, the unit comes with a smaller volume size and has been furnished with top-of-the-line sensor technology, an intuitive graphical user interface, as well as effortless patient positioning.

The company describes the Planmeca Viso G1 as “robust and reliable” and says it is “able to produce consistently great images even with heavy daily workloads.” The Planmeca Viso G1 has a Field of View (FOV) up to 11 x 11 cm and includes essential imaging programs, from panoramic to 3D dental and TMJ imaging programs. The device can also be equipped with a one-shot cephalostat, adding additional capabilities for cephalometric analyses and orthodontic treatment planning.

Proprietary Imaging Solutions

As with all Planmeca Viso 3D units, the new unit includes several proprietary solutions. These include Planmeca CALM, Planmeca’s algorithm for motion artefact correction, and the Planmeca Ultra Low Dose protocol, which enables CBCT imaging at significantly lower effective patient doses without a statistical reduction in image quality.

New 2D Imaging Devices

In addition to the Planmeca Viso G1, the company is also adding two new 2D devices to its Viso portfolio—Planmeca Viso 2D Pro and Planmeca Viso 2D Classic. According to Planmeca, both feature an intuitive user interface with easy patient positioning and high image quality.

Company Perspective

“Planmeca has always been a pioneer in the dental industry, and our sights are firmly on the horizon even now,” states Timo Müller, vice president of Planmeca’s X-ray division. “We strongly believe in the Planmeca Viso product family, as bolstered by our satisfied Viso customers in nearly 80 countries around the world. The new devices have once again been developed while listening closely to user feedback and suggestions—with patient safety and diagnostic image quality always as the top priority in line with our Ultra Low Dose philosophy. Viso is, quite simply, the future.”
