Planmeca, Helsinki, Finland, introduced its new hyper-speed intraoral scanner—the Planmeca Emerald S, an enhanced version of the company’s Planmeca Emerald.
The new scanner features the Emerald scanner’s compact size, autoclavable anti-fog scanning tips and plug-and-play capability, while adding new features that allow it to reportedly scan twice as fast as its predecessor.
Planmeca Emerald S users can also take advantage of the new transillumination tip. The new Cariosity tip enables clinicians to see through the tooth and detect caries and cracks in their early states with a radiation-free near-infrared light. Additionally, the Emerald S has been equipped with a tooth shade assistant, which simplifies the color-matching process through improved color uniformity.
The scanner also uses a new scanning algorithm that reportedly makes the scanning experience easier by eliminating unwanted data automatically. The scanner is also fully integrated with Planmeca devices and software.
The Planmeca Emerald S features open architecture, allowing users to share scans with colleagues and outside specialists.
