Approximately 30,000 dentists and dental professionals attended the 2008 Spring Scientific Session of the California Dental Association from May 1–4 at the Anaheim Convention Center. More than 600 exhibitors demonstrated the latest equipment, sharing groundbreaking treatment options for optimum oral health.
Some of the products and services featured at the show were:
• The Nuvora Oral Health Mint, a patented, long-acting lozenge designed to slowly release active ingredients for an hour to help dissolve biofilm, kill bacteria, capture malodorous compounds, neutralize acids, and stimulate saliva production in the oral cavity.
• VELscope Vantage, the next generation of LED Dental’s VELscope Oral Cancer Screening System. The new system offers a more powerful lamp technology that provides better fluorescence and improved camera imaging, as well as a camera adapter kit for clear and crisp digital photography.
• HealthCare Volunteer, a program partially funded by the CDA Foundation that helps low-income families meet the requirements of AB 1433, the kindergarten oral health assessment law that requires all schoolchildren entering kindergarten to be seen by a dentist. HealthCare Volunteer has launched a statewide free dental screening program to help connect kindergarten students to dentists willing to provide free screenings in their office. Dentists who register to volunteer will be provided with dental screening supply kits through the program.
• PinkTooth.net, a networking resource for female dentists to share ideas, hopes, dreams, and struggles. The Web site includes articles on recent dentistry news, information and articles addressing dental treatment techniques, and tips and suggestions from a wide variety of topics, including running an effective dental office and creating a "green" dental practice.
