The CS 8100SC 3D extraoral imaging system from Atlanta-based Carestream Dental has been awarded a bronze 2018 Edison Award in the category of Dental/Medical Digital Imaging by the Edison Awards™.
The award, according to a press release from the company, was inspired by Thomas Edison’s “persistence and inventiveness” and recognizes innovation, creativity, and ingenuity in the global economy.
To earn the bronze 2018 Edison Award, the CS 8100SC 3D extraoral imaging system was judged on its concept and development, value, and impact on the industry.
The CS 8100SC 3D provides two-dimensional panoramic imaging, cephalometric imaging, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging, and model/impression scanning all in one system. According to the company, the CS 8100SC 3D’s minimal footprint and affordability make it ideal for smaller practices that either don’t have space or couldn’t afford an extraoral imaging system in the past. The system features a low dose program to deliver 3D imaging at a dose equal to or lower than panoramic imaging.
Edison Award nominees are judged by more than 3,000 senior business executives and academics from across the nation, whose votes acknowledge the CS 8100SC 3D’s success in meeting the organization’s stringent criteria of quality. The voting panel includes members of: Chief Marketing Officer Council; Design Management Institute; American Productivity & Quality Center; American Society of Mechanical Engineers; Georgia State Marketing Roundtable; Product Development and Management Association; Association of Technology Management and Applied Engineering; past Edison Award winners; marketing professionals; scientists; designers; engineers; and academics.
