Align Technology has updated its digital platform with new simulation, diagnostic, and design features to support treatment planning and patient communication.
Align Technology Inc has introduced new features across its Align Digital Platform designed to support treatment visualization, clinical workflows, and patient communication.
Updates Support Patient Visualization
The Align Oral Health Suite now includes an AI-powered Align X-ray Insights integration and a gumline tool to help clinicians identify and communicate conditions such as interproximal cavities or potential gum recession.
Additionally, the Invisalign Outcome Simulator Pro features interactive enhancements, including Arch controls and an Occlusogram, to illustrate different treatment approaches and patient occlusion.
A new 3D Tissue Animation feature in the ClinCheck treatment planning software allows doctors to simulate facial soft tissue changes by the end of Invisalign treatment.
“These latest treatment planning and patient engagement innovations for Invisalign were developed to help our customers visualize treatment options and outcomes, engage with and treat their patients with confidence, and simplify clinical workflows while more fully connecting steps in the digital treatment journey,” says Sreelakshmi Kolli, executive vice president and chief product and digital officer at Align Technology, in a release.
Expanded Design and Planning Workflows
Align also announced updates to its iTero Design Suite and Invisalign Smile Architect tools. The iTero Design Suite now includes AI-powered crown and bridge design and a new AI Splint feature for same-day restorative workflows.
Invisalign Smile Architect offers a preferences template and a Dual Flex prescription option (Dual Flex Rx) to support integrated orthodontic-restorative treatment planning.
“One of the most valuable aspects of these digital planning tools is the ability to show patients the complete picture,” says Dr Lovedeep Randhawa, a general dentist based in British Columbia, Canada, in a release. “When they can clearly visualize those relationships, the conversation shifts from cosmetic improvements to long-term oral health outcomes, helping them understand why treatment is recommended and make informed decisions with confidence.”
Further Digital Platform Additions
The recent introductions build on other updates to Align’s digital platform, including the Invisalign Specifix Attachment System, a 3D-printed solution designed to reduce variability in attachment size and placement.
The platform also integrates a digital approach to bonded buttons, allowing button type and position to be determined within the ClinCheck software to improve placement accuracy during treatment planning.
Other additions include forward- and backward-facing integrated hooks for the Invisalign Palatal Expander System, which are compatible with elastics, and a custom trimline option that gives doctors control over aligner gingival margins based on individual patient anatomy.
