In the last of four-part series talking about remodeling your dinosaur sterilization room, we go live!

Sterilization and infection prevention expert Jackie Dorst walks us through the last step of the sterilization room remodel: Training and the first patient day.

In this week’s episode of In the Sterilization Room with Jackie, she shares how she structures her 2-day training session for the orthodontic team. On day 1, she provides hands-on training to staff, showing them how to do everything from putting all the new supplies in their proper place and operating the new cleaning and sterilizing equipment to filling and sterilizing the instrument cassettes and actually using them at the chairside. On day 2, she’s there as the practice gets back to work seeing patients. She talks about what that first clinic day with the new sterilization routine should look like–including why she advises practices to see a reduced patient load. Through it all, Jackie talks about why training the orthodontic team is key to making the most of the practice’s investment of time and money in a brand new sterilization room. OP
