The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) has endorsed PhotoDynamic Inc’s PhytoLight Oral Health Antimicrobial System.
The PhytoLight system prevents white spot lesions by utilizing light-activated antimicrobial foam to effectively kill bacteria which cause plaque and caries. In order to overcome the challenges associated with traditional oral hygiene regimens, it is a simple, one-minute daily treatment, and includes clinic/home compliance monitoring.
The AAO says it carefully evaluated the product prior to issuing its endorsement. A key component of this evaluation was the involvement of the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation’s Rapid Assessment of Evidence Committee. This committee meticulously reviewed the claims and supporting research of PhytoLight, concluding that preliminary experiments and clinical studies demonstrated promising results regarding the effectiveness and efficacy of light-activated PhytoLight Foam.
