Jonesboro, Arkansas-based orthodontist Benjamin Burris, DDS, MDS, of Braces by Burris,was recently named the Business Executive of the Year by the NortheastArkansas Business of the Year awards. The award is based on annualrevenue growth rate, accomplishments, business challenges overcome,management philosophy, and community activities.
Since purchasing his first practice in Jonesboro in 2004, Burris hasexpanded his practice to include 12 clinics across the state, as well asa pediatric dentistry clinic in Hot Springs, Ark. Recently, he alsotook a position as a clinical professor of dental medicine at theUniversity of Southern Nevada, where he teaches business and the practiceof orthodontics. Burris also holds leadership positions with a numberof orthodontic groups, including the Southwest Society of Orthodontistsand the Arkansas Society of Orthodontists.
Burris is also responsible with starting The Progressive Orthodontist,a quarterly, national magazine to help orthodontists navigate thecompetitive orthodontic market. The magazine is currently distributed to9,000 orthodontists in the United States.
All of Burris’ clinics take part in the Smile for a Lifetime Foundation,a group that Burris started to provide orthodontic scholarships tochildren in need of orthodontic treatment. Burris’ clinics donate bracesat an average of $6,000 per set to four children per month.
