During a global health crisis, acting as a central point of care, enabling patients to cut down on appointments and reduce time outside the home, is appealing to patients for both convenience and safety reasons, says Ed Shellard, DMD, chief dental officer, Carestream Dental.

Practices that are looking to expand their treatment capabilities, do more in-office procedures and provide better services to patients will find extended fields of views (FOV) and advanced software capabilities with the CS 8200 3D Family, the newest set of powerful imaging systems from Carestream Dental

Oral healthcare professionals interested in learning more about this new system can attend “Extend Your View, Extend Your Treatment with the New CS 8200 3D” at 6:00 pm EST, Thursday, Sept. 10, for a first look at the CS 8200 3D.

The CS 8200 3D is a versatile multi-modality system that includes 2D panoramic imaging, CBCT imaging, 3D object scanning and optional cephalometric imaging with the added enhancements of larger FOVs and incredibly advanced algorithms that help doctors see more and do more for patients.

Six selectable FOVs, from 4 cm x 4 cm to 12 cm x 10 cm, are designed to cover both daily clinical applications and more advanced treatments. The EndoHD mode, available on the smallest FOV, delivers extremely high-resolution scans (75 µm) to see even the finest details of root canal morphology. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Carestream says the new extended volume sizes—12 cm x 5 cm and 12 cm x 10 cm—can capture full arch images, including third molars, in a single scan for performing complex implant cases, periodontics, oral surgery and orthodontics.

“The CS 8200 3D helps doctors expand their treatment options or add a specialist to their practice so they can keep patients in-house for more control over cases,” Ed Shellard, DMD, chief dental officer, Carestream Dental, noted. “Also, given the global health crisis, patients are looking for ways to cut down on appointments and reduce their time outside the home; so, acting as a central point of care is appealing to patients for both convenience and safety reasons.”

Once an image is captured, doctors will experience Carestream Dental’s best-in-class image quality in addition to new advanced software algorithms that provide more confidence when making diagnoses. One of Carestream Dental’s latest innovations, Tomosharp technology is manufactured to generate sharp panoramic images effortlessly, even when the patient is not perfectly aligned. Advanced Noise Reduction reduces image noise while preserving clinical details, which is especially valuable for high-resolution scans. The company says that a highly anticipated feature is the optional CS MAR software. CS MAR reduces metal artifacts caused by implants and dental fillings and provides a unique tool to compare live images with and without CS MAR applied.

For additional diagnostic capabilities, practices can implement the optional Scan Ceph module that delivers best-in-class cephalometric imaging and scanning times. Its imaging software includes an automatic tracing feature* that can provide a fully traced ceph in as little as 10 seconds, leaving more time for case presentation and patient communication.

“We’ve been listening to the oral healthcare community and what we were hearing was the need for a system that is simple in design and ease-of-use, but powerful in imaging,” Stephane Varlet, global equipment business line manager, Carestream Dental, explained. “Starting with a proven and compact platform then scaling up in terms of capabilities let us deliver more options for doctors who are looking for CBCT solutions.”

Whether opting for the CS 8200 3D or the CS 8200 3D with Scan Ceph module, both systems are supported by Carestream Dental’s latest imaging software, CS Imaging version 8, a powerful imaging hub that centralizes all of a practice’s 2D and 3D images and CAD/CAM data. This allows the system to seamlessly integrate with a practice’s existing digital workflow.

The systems follow the same award-winning compact footprint of the CS 8100 3D, which is recognized for its slim profile, user-friendly features and ease of installation. Launched in 2014, the CS 8100 3D Family has more than 11,000 systems installed worldwide.

The CS 8200 3D Family joins Carestream Dental’s expansive portfolio of extraoral imaging systems, including the CS 8100 and CS 8100 3D Families, and their newly added Evo Editions, and the premium CS 9600 Family. No matter a practice’s size or specialty, Carestream Dental offers an imaging system that can meet their and their patients’ unique needs.
