THe AAO detailed its annual anti-bullying campaign, Bullying Bites, to run through October when during National Bullying Prevention Month.

The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) is gearing up for its annual anti-bullying campaign, urging individuals and communities to join forces in combating bullying. For the sixth consecutive year, the AAO will observe National Bullying Prevention Month in October, coinciding with National Orthodontic Health Month.

The campaign, titled “Bullying Bites,” aims to empower orthodontists and their teams to take a stand against bullying and spread the word. To facilitate participation, the AAO offers a range of creative and user-friendly resources for individuals and teams.

By incorporating the hashtag #bullyingbites, participants are encouraged to share their support for National Bullying Prevention Month on social media platforms. Additionally, offices are urged to spread awareness by displaying stickers, posters, and flyers in their premises.

Unity Day, scheduled for October 16, 2024, presents an opportunity for individuals to demonstrate solidarity by wearing orange attire. The AAO provides a template for orange shirts, which can be printed locally or customized according to preference.

Throughout October, the AAO recommends supporting related charities, both on a local and national scale, such as Stand for the Silent charity. In tandem with the anti-bullying initiative, the AAO has unveiled new materials for National Orthodontic Health Month, ensuring that resources are accessible year-round. These materials include fliers, posters, and social media content aimed at promoting orthodontic health awareness.

For further information and resources, members are encouraged to visit the AAO’s National Orthodontic Health Month page.
