The AAO Board of Trustees, meeting last month in St Louis, took action on an initiative to diversify the content offered as part of the Annual Session Doctors Program. This could include potential speakers from outside the dental profession being added to the Annual Session Doctors Program. The board hopes the move will bring more cutting edge research and practice management innovations to the Annual Session audience.

The board plans to develop guidelines on Annual Session planning committee makeup to help facilitate diversification of program content and to form an advisory committee to the Annual Session Planning Committee that includes younger clinicians, educators, and consultants. The move to develop guidelines for the planning committee makeup is in response to a recommendation from a separate committee that investigated approaches to enhancing the Doctors Program.
