child tooth decayThe American Dental Association (ADA) Foundation awarded more than $114,000 in grants from the 2013 Samuel D. Harris Fund for Children’s Dental Health to nonprofit organizations fighting to end childhood tooth decay.

The ADA Foundation awarded the grants to 24 organizations across the nation that support programs to improve children’s dental health by educating parents, caregivers, and pregnant women on the value of good dental health.

“We extend our congratulations to the 2013 ADAF Harris Grant winners,” said David Whiston, DDS, president of the ADA Foundation. “The ADA Foundation is honored to support these important programs whose work helps build momentum toward eliminating early childhood cavities. We thank each of the 2013 applicants for their terrific efforts.”

The ADA Foundation created the Samuel D. Harris Fund for Children’s Dental Health in 1999 through a permanent endowment established through a generous gift by Dr. Samuel D. Harris, a distinguished pediatric dentist and philanthropist. Grants of up to $5,000 are awarded through a competitive process to aid dental community programs designed to help improve children’s dental health.
