Eligible Anthem plan members who cannot receive in-office clear aligner treatment or do not want in-office treatment can now do so remotely with byte aligners.
The direct-to-consumer clear aligner company byte has joined Anthem Blue Cross’s (Anthem) Dental Prime and Complete PPO network. Eligible Anthem plan members who cannot receive in-office treatment or do not want in-office treatment because of time commitment or expense, will be able to do so remotely with byte aligners through the Anthem Ortho@Home program launched last week.
With this new network relationship, plan members will pay only their coinsurance up front, and byte will electronically bill their plan for the balance. Members no longer have to file for reimbursement when choosing byte aligner treatment.
Anthem members without orthodontic coverage will also be eligible for the exclusive pricing available to members.
This benefit gives qualified members access to an at-home impression kit, as well as the HyperByte high frequency vibration device. A retainer is also included at the end of treatment. Average treatment time is reportedly 3 months with the byte system.
