SML’s CEO Rob Veis issues a COVID-19 Update regarding the company’s operation status.
As SML takes action to comply with all the measures to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Rob Veis, the company’s chief executive officer, has reported that SML is still currently fully operational. The statement was released as part of an announcement sent out to customers.
The company’s top priority is the health and safety of its employees, customers, their patients, suppliers, and communities.
“To that end some of our employees are having to take time off from work during this period to tend to their families. From a laboratory perspective we will be taking every possible measure to complete and ship cases in a timely manner, but we anticipate this reduction in personnel could translate into fabrication and delivery delays,” he says. “From a products perspective we are yet to see any significant disruption in our supply chain. We are committed to meeting our customers’ needs to ensure that we continue to deliver the highest quality products and services to you and your patients.”
Veis would like to assure the community that as a dental laboratory and products provider, stringent health and safety procedures are at the core of its operations. SML adheres to the utmost rigorous infection control practices in compliance with FDA, OSHA, and medical device policies and procedures, he added.
The company also has implemented a number of preventative measures ranging from upgrading sanitization and environmental cleaning and implementing social distancing among staff to making sure employees are properly educated on the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and restricting employee travel, unless for medical necessity.
The company is maintaining communication with suppliers to determine their service level expectations and developing contingency plans as needed.
