January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, and DUX Dental, Oxnard, Calif, is doing its part to raise awareness about the disease. The company recently donated $11,800 to the Tracy Lane Foundation, which was created by Tracy Lane and her husband Derek to promote early detection of cervical cancer and encourage women to get regular checkups. Tracy passed away from cervical cancer in August 2013 at the age of 31.

To show its support for the foundation and its mission, DUX Dental donated one dollar for every one of its teal-colored product sold in 2013. Teal is the color that represents cervical cancer awareness, and the sale of thousands of teal-colored mirrors, trays, and tubs in the DUX Dental product portfolio helped support the Tracy Lane Foundation.

“Although the number of cervical cancer cases have gone down in recent decades, still many demographic groups in the United States are not receiving the screening and care they need to detect this disease,” said Paul Porteous, chief executive officer of DUX Dental. “Cervical cancer is treatable, and the Tracy Lane Foundation is supporting positive outcomes for women diagnosed with cervical cancer by financially supporting screening, vaccinations, and treatment efforts.”
