According to the AAO, March 1, 2010, is the deadline to apply for the 2010 Charley Schultz Resident Scholar Award. The award, which is sponsored by Dentsply GAC, is designed to promote clinical science and basic science research by residents.

Each orthodontic program chair can select one resident to apply for the program. Only one participant per accredited orthodontic program will be allowed. The first 40 residents who apply for the program will be accepted as finalists. Up to five non-US or -Canadian applicants will be accepted if they are in the first 40 to apply.

Applicants will be notified by March 15, 2010, if their applications were among the first 40 received.

The Charley Schultz Resident Scholar Award program will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010, during the AAO Annual Session in Washington, DC. All finalists will make use of poster boards only to present their research, with no computer presentations permitted.

Each participating finalist will receive an honorarium of $750 during the Excellence in Orthodontics luncheon on May 2. Winning presenters will receive scholarships at varying levels.
