Carestream Dental, Atlanta, has teamed up with exocad, an OEM dental CAD/CAM software solutions provider, to offer systems integration with the CS Solutions product portfolio.
Based in Woburn, Mass, exocad makes design software that is compatible with Carestream Dental’s CS 3500 intraoral scanner. The CS 3500 is designed to enable clinicians to easily acquire true color, 2D, and 3D images. Requiring no external heater or trolley system, the scanner features high-angulation scanning of up to 45 degrees and to a depth from -2 mm to +13 mm. Additionally, the CS 3500 uses open-format .STL files for sharing and can be plugged directly into a computer’s USB, making it portable. The integration with exocad software is intended to make it easy for practices to adopt digital impression technology and collaborate seamlessly with labs.
According to a release, exocad’s cloud service “dentalshare,” enables clinicians and client labs to communicate better and faster, allowing new workflows—such as lab-assisted chairside CAD/CAM—to be created by any laboratory or clinician. The software’s ability to transfer large and complex cases quickly is designed to foster new business opportunities (and efficiencies for resellers) while increasing productivity and strengthening existing relationships between labs and clinicians.
