Hu-FriedyHu-Friedy, Chicago, has introduced its IMS® Infinity Series Cassettes, which are designed for effective processing and infection control.

According to a release, the new Cassettes support the evolving instrument processing guidelines, while increasing practice efficiency and protecting patients, staff, and instrument investments. Made from electro-polished stainless steel, they feature a modern hole pattern with a 30% additional open area; a silicone rail designed to reduce instrument contact by 59%; and a latch design that allows for single-hand opening. Users can tell at a glance if the cassette is locked or unlocked.

The IMS Infinity Series Cassettes were selected as a finalist in the 2014 Medical Design Excellence Awards®, the medical technology industry’s design competition that recognizes innovation in medical device design.

Many dental industry experts recommend instrument management systems that utilize cassettes because they minimize handling during the cleaning and sterilization process. Reduced handling increases safety for staff and patients, and can save an average of 5 to 10 minutes per procedure.
