On July 19, Henry Schein continued its Healthy Children, Healthy Lifestyles program by teaming up with the nonprofit organizations Louisiana Primary Care Association and 100 Black Men to provide free dental and medical care to underserved children in Baton Rouge.
More than 60 physicians, nurses, dentists, and community members volunteered their time to provide health and dental care to 500 children. They provided screenings for hypertension, asthma, diabetes, obesity, and poor oral health. The children who participated in the program, together with their parents, were educated on strategies to prevent and treat serious chronic health issues. Parents were also given information on how they can access community health care clinics or physicians’ offices where their children may access ongoing preventive and primary care on a regular basis.
