A 22-year old recently pleaded guilty andwas sentenced to life in prison for the murder of New Iberia, La, orthodontist Robert Chastant, DDS. Ismaiel Viera, an illegal immigrant, plead guilty in June to second-degree murder, which carries a mandatory life sentence.
Chastant was killed in December 2010. He was a graduate of the Louisiana State University Dental College and the University of Pennsylvania Orthodontic Program. He represented the southwestern division as an associate delegate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
