Dolphin’s software customers will be able to use Change Healthcare’s Clinical Exchange ePrescribe.

The Dolphin Management development team announced a new integration with Change Healthcare’s Clinical Exchange ePrescribe, an electronic prescription service that connects providers to a network of more than 65,000 pharmacies.

Dolphin customers can use the service with Dolphin Management version 10.6, which is generally available for all customers with active Dolphin Service Club.

The Clinical Exchange ePrescribe integration will help keep doctors in compliance with the Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS) proposal from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), which is being mandated on a state level across the U.S.

Currently, 25 states already mandate EPCS, with nine more coming on board for a total of 34 by January 2022.

According to Dolphin, in addition to keeping a practice compliant, Clinical Exchange ePrescribe offers other benefits over handwritten prescriptions.

“Nurses and pharmacy staff no longer have to decipher a doctor’s illegible handwriting, making Clinical Exchange ePrescribe a safer option for the patient,” says Dewitt Blankenship, Dolphin Management Software Products manager. “It saves time and reduces error for everyone in the chain of care.”

Dolphin provides imaging, diagnostic, practice management, case presentation, and patient education software for dental professionals. Dolphin products tightly integrate with digital x-ray units, CBCT systems, telephonic solutions and web-enabled applications, and are compatible with the latest operating systems and computers.
