Carestream Dental,Atlanta, has launched sales of its CS 9300 and CS 9300C extraoralimaging systems in Canada. The CS 9300 (pictured) offers 2D digital panoramicimaging with variable focal trough technology. Additionally, the CS 9300features 3D imaging with up to seven selectable fields of view, rangingfrom 5 cm x 5 cm to 17 cm x 13.5 cm.

In addition to panoramic and 3D imaging, the CS 9300C producescephalometric images in a single shot, to better minimize distortion andrisk of blurred images due to patient movement. The CS 9300C offers arange of image formats from 24 cm x 30 cm to 18 cm x 18 cm. According tothe company, the CS 9300C’s cephalometric module addresses anyorthodontic diagnostic and tracing need, and even includes an exclusivefull cranial option. The CS 9300C is certified by OraMetrix Inc for usewith its SureSmile® technology.

Both the cephalometric and 3D imaging modalities enable practitionersto limit radiation exposure by collimating the imaging area down to aprecise region of interest.

Both systems come preinstalled with Carestream Dental’sindustry-leading imaging software that has been designed by clinicians,for clinicians. According to the company, the system automaticallypositions to the region of interest depending on the program selected;laser beams and motorized movement deliver precise alignment; andpreview image “scout” technology lets users evaluate patient positioningbefore 3D acquisition. The systems provide both standing and seatedoptions available, and accommodate patients of all sizes.
