The Planmeca Romexis software integration with Henry Schein One’s web-based service, Digital Dental Exchange, streamlines case submission between the practice and the lab.

Planmeca USA announced the integration of its all-in-one software, Planmeca Romexis, with Henry Schein One’s web-based service, Digital Dental Exchange (DDX). According to Planmeca USA, this integration will help enhance communication between dental practices and dental laboratories; deliver seamless connectivity between practice management software and lab-management applications; and make it possible to easily share data between practices and labs.

“Integrating with DDX is an important collaboration between Planmeca and Henry Schein, making our mutual customers’ lives easier by improving digital workflows and operational efficiencies,” said Lou Vodopivec, director of product strategy at Planmeca USA. “Customers can easily send a CBCT file, intraoral scan, and patient images using Planmeca Romexis to DDX by clicking a button. This provides a truly efficient bridge between dentists and laboratories, giving our customers the simplicity that this integration provides.”

Planmeca Romexis is an open software platform that includes a selection of modules to diagnose and treatment plan. The latest version reportedly offers a redesigned patient interface giving access to all patient data from 2D, 3D, CAD/CAM, videos, and PDFs in a single image browser. With its centralized database, Planmeca Romexis reportedly is designed to provide the ultimate in data accessibility and file management.

DDX users can create a new case—pre-populated with the patient’s information—and transfer and store multiple patient files and other pertinent information about the case to their lab with one click.

“With DDX’s easy-to-use interface and integrated workflow, we make it easy for practitioners to manage the creation of correct scan-to-patient-to-treatment plans. This frees up time to provide quality care for patients,” said Mike Baird, CEO, Henry Schein One. “Because DDX is an interoperative network that connects with other digital dentistry technologies, it simplifies the clinical workflow among dentists, labs and specialists.”

In addition to helping enhance digital workflows for general dentistry, the integration can enhance communication for practitioners using Reveal Clear Aligners from Henry Schein Orthodontics. According to Planmeca USA, practitioners can more easily send patient information through Planmeca Romexis, integrating with the DDX portal. Trained technicians will review the patient records and provide a treatment protocol for the practitioner. The practitioner reviews and approves the treatment, makes any necessary adjustments, and then tracks the progress of the case.

“Henry Schein Orthodontics’ customers can rely on us for solutions that help improve their digital workflows, as well as patient communication and case acceptance,” said Phil Prentice, president strategic products portfolio group, Henry Schein Inc. “DDX and Romexis’ robust imaging capabilities give practitioners an opportunity to reveal what patients’ teeth could look like after treatment. As a result, more meaningful discussions are facilitated during patient visits, helping to build the trust and confidence patients need to make the clear choice about their orthodontic needs.”
