ULab Systems, Menlo Park, Calif, announced that its patented automated orthodontic treatment planning software has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

ULab software imports patient 3D digital scans and allows users to diagnose a patient’s orthodontic treatment needs and develop a treatment plan chairside in less than 5 minutes, according to a press release from the privately held digital dental company. The software exports STL files for printing dental models to create aligner trays and retainers in the office.

ULab will begin sales in the United States prior to the AAO Annual Session in Washington, DC, in May.
