Adenta USA

Adenta USA, Ivyland, Pa, offers its Evolution bracket (pictured), which combines the advantages of self-ligation with the aesthetic benefits of a lingual bracket. Adenta also offers its 3/4 Bracket, which is designed for patients with a pronounced overbite. The occlusal slot wall is shortened by approximately 50%, and the incisal walls are reduced to a minimum. The Crown Bracket uses all four sides of the bracket’s base to position the bracket to conform to the anatomy of the tooth. This increases the accuracy in aligning and positioning the bracket, virtually eliminating misalignments and reducing chairtime.

RMO

RMO, Denver, offers its SWLF Synergy R™ bracket system, which features passive, minimal friction and complete control when needed. The system incorporates a MIM convertible cap on the cuspid and bicuspid brackets that allow the ease of a self-ligating bracket with the flexibility of Synergy®’s Friction Selection Control (FSC) modes. The SWLF Synergy R system has no clips or doors. It allows rapid wire changeout with cuspid and bicuspid brackets that can be converted into traditional Synergy-style brackets at any time during treatment. Once converted, Synergy’s FSC modes allow clinicians to ligate the bracket in different ways to achieve different degrees of friction and rotational control.

Gestenco International AB

Gestenco International AB, Gothenburg, Sweden, introduces its Phantom lingual bracket for direct bonding. It features a fixed placement-jig that allows correct positioning on the tooth and controls proper angulation. The bracket has built-in torque. The Phantom is self-ligating, with a snap-on door that opens and closes with a special instrument. Once in larger-dimension archwires, the door’s beam on the inside locks the wire into the archwire slot to prevent sliding. Phantom is made from a special-grade medical polymer. The bracket is transparent—there are no dark shades from metal or any visibility of braces in the lower jaw. The bracket system is available in 5-5 upper and lower or tubes for premolars. The placement jig can be removed by hand or with a cutting instrument after bonding. A starter kit, which includes brackets, assorted wires, elastic chains, instruments, and instructions, is available.

Modern Arch

Modern Arch, Wyomissing, Pa, offers its 20° pretorqued upper arches, an addition to its Tri-Sectional Arch product line. The upper anterior segments are available in .019 x .025 and .016 x .025, with 20° of supplemental torque for the incisors. The anterior segments are available in torqued elgiloy or beta-titanium alloys. Posterior free sliding is the same as in the nontorqued selections, providing reduced cross sections of square steel alloy for dimensional stability underload. The arches allow controlled anterior retraction with minimal force due to the absence of posterior friction. The arches allow minimal dependence on auxiliary aids such as facebows, lingual or palatal arches, sectionals, palatal buttons, microscrews, single-tooth canine retractions, and incisors. Trial kits, which include lower and upper arches in different sizes, are available.

Forestadent USA

Forestadent USA, St Louis, introduces its nickel-free Mini Sprint®, an alternative to mini stainless steel brackets. The bracket features a patented 3D bonding base. Both dimensions—mesio-distal and occluso-gingival—provide rotational control. The 3D bonding base increases bond strength by 30%, according the company. This feature reduces chairtime because most of the adhesive will remain on the base during the removal procedure. The rounded edges of the slot reduce friction during the leveling phase of treatment. The Mini Sprint features deep tie-wing undercuts that make double ligation convenient.

ClassOne Orthodontics

ClassOne Orthodontics, Lubbock, Tex, offers its nickel-free CarriÈre SLB self-ligating bracket, which is made of a base and a sliding wall. The curved trajectory of the closing slide and the smooth, rounded edges make it a comfortable bracket with a low profile. The CarriÈre SLB allows a “biologic looseness” of the wire inside the full, four-wall lumen. The design of the CarriÈre SLB avoids the binding of the arch to the bracket, according to the company. The forces that are applied for adequate orthodontic treatment are not interfered with by binding the forces that are normally present from elastic o-rings or metal ties. The result is minimal friction and improved sliding mechanics. The bracket can be opened with an explorer and can be closed with a finger.
