Funding from angel investors will allow Braces On Demand to take its online 3D-printing platform to expand nationally.

Braces On Demand announced a round of funding from angel investors to allow the company to scale its online 3D printing platform nationally.

The 3D printing design technology allows orthodontists to craft their appliances in the office to save time and money.

Braces On Demand offers 8-million prescription options and connects directly with existing printers (print-your-own or order-by-mail are both available). According to the company, it can print up to 100 brackets in under 2 hours in every shade and color.

Additionally, BOD enables orthodontists to use a hybrid approach to achieve treatment results in less time.

“With Braces On Demand, we’ve eliminated supply chain issues and backorders while gaining workflow efficiencies and cost savings,” said Scott Frey, MSD, DDS, of Hatcher and Frey Orthodontics. “Using high-quality orthodontic devices has never been easier.”

Headquartered in Long Island, top BOD executives Tom Shannon, DDS, and Colin Corey will present at the annual American Association of Orthodontics conference in Miami on May 21, where the team will also be accepting their second Ortho Innovator Award.
