KOMET USA introduces its new line of GSQ tungsten carbide cutters for use on soft acrylics in the dental office and laboratory. KOMET’s GSQ toothing technology is designed for trimming and fine-trimming of temporary appliances in dental offices or soft acrylics in laboratories, resulting in precise surface shaping, high material reduction, and optimum surface quality.

Conventional blade configurations of other cutters typically generate excessive heat and clog the working parts of the instrument, resulting in insufficient material reduction. KOMET’s GSQ cutters are specially adapted to overcome resistance to penetration in highly elastic materials and to prevent clogging. They are efficient tools for use on such soft silicone materials as positioners, mouthguards for athletes, soft denture relines, and artificial gums.

According to the company, the cutting efficiency of KOMET’s GSQ cutters is due in part to their large chip space and their low number of crosscut blades. Advantages include easy and controlled surface shaping, effective cutting and optimal material reduction, excellent surface quality, and low heat generation.
