The exclusive US distribution agreement introduces an oscillating system designed to modernize IPR procedures.

Henry Schein Orthodontics has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Eversmile for smartIPR, an advanced interproximal reduction system. Now available through Henry Schein Orthodontics in the US, the system is designed to simplify procedures by allowing clinicians to open tight interproximal contacts gradually while minimizing the risk of cutting hard or soft tissue.

Oscillating System Replaces Traditional Tools

According to the company, the smartIPR system eliminates the need for traditional hand strips and spinning disks, providing a controlled approach to procedures using oscillation. The technology utilizes a vibrating handpiece paired with non-rotating, lubricated disks to glide between teeth, polish enamel surfaces, and create precise space.

“By partnering with Eversmile, we are expanding access to an innovative technology that reimagines the IPR process across orthodontic practices nationwide,” says Zachary Meli, vice president and general manager at Henry Schein Orthodontics, in a release. “This addition further strengthens Henry Schein Orthodontics’ commitment to delivering clinically driven solutions that help our customers work more efficiently while enhancing the patient experience.”

System Integration and Advancements

The smartIPR system is designed to increase clinical control during treatment and simplify the interproximal reduction workflow for orthodontic practices.

“Since its introduction, smartIPR has generated strong interest among clinicians seeking a more controlled and efficient approach to IPR procedures. Through this partnership, we look forward to expanding access to a system that we believe represents a meaningful advancement in the way chairside IPR procedures are performed,” says Dr Michael Florman, president and CEO of Eversmile, in a release.

The launch is part of what Henry Schein Orthodontics says is its strategy of collaborating with innovators across orthodontics to bring differentiated technologies to market.
