At the American Dental Association’s  (ADA) Washington Leadership Conference, which took place from April 3–5, 2006, Edmund D. Effort, DDS, was honored as a children’s advocate.

Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pa.) presented a proclamation from the Congress of the United States which said, in part, “Colonel Effort represents the finest in those devoted to community outreach as an advocate for the Shadyside Boys and Girls Club, a team leader for the ‘Grass Roots Dentist’ for the ADA, and a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and the African American Chamber of Commerce…“Colonel Effort’s involvement has indeed contributed to the development of a prosperous, more vibrant community.”

Effort is grassroots action team leader for the ADA and Pennsylvania Dental Association in the 14th congressional district and a veteran of the Operation Desert Shield. He was promoted to full colonel in the US Air Force Reserve, Dental Corps, on April 2.
