tops, Atlanta, introduces topsCephMate 1.0, a digital cephalometric tracing program with crisp visuals, flexible tools, and the stability and security of the Mac OS X operating system. The program was introduced to topsXtreme users at topsFest 2008, the company’s annual users meeting. topsCephMate creates pdfs that integrate easily with topsXtreme, the Mac OS X-based orthodontic practice-management system with imaging that is tops’ landmark product.

"It’s about freedom," says tops President Mark Sanchez, DDS. "The orthodontist or staff member should be free to create tracings without being forced into modes that they can’t get out of. And, they should be able to do it with a minimal amount of effort. topsCephMate supports flexibility and boosts practice productivity with a ceph program that has the same security, stability, and flexibility as topsXtreme. We designed topsXtreme’s practice management to act as a digital hub for all orthodontic software giving doctors the freedom to use all the programs they like best.”

A step-by-step instruction window that can move anywhere on the screen guides users as they develop tracings. Among the flexible features:

• A spotlighting feature takes the eye along the linear aspects of a measurement;
• real-time measurement changes as landmarks and contours are moved, illustrating how
other measurements are impacted;
• a radial menu for quick navigation;
• one-click access to facial, x-ray, blended, and treatment views; and
• fast fades from one image to another.

topsCephMate will be available this summer. A single user license will be $3,500, with pricing for a network version to be announced shortly.
