The new electric toothbrush features brushing feedback and an on-device mouth map to help patients improve their oral care routines between dental visits.

Royal Philips has announced the launch of the Philips Sonicare Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 Prestige, an intelligent electric toothbrush featuring on-device AI and real-time guidance. The device is designed to help patients monitor their brushing coverage and pressure, aiming to improve oral health outcomes between professional visits.

Real-Time Brushing Guidance

The 9900 Prestige utilizes a third-generation AI and machine learning model to provide spatially aware guidance. A new light ring guidance system displays real-time feedback on brushing coverage, pressure, and scrubbing during a session.

Additionally, the toothbrush features a 12-segment on-device mouth map that alerts users to missed spots requiring further attention. The device also incorporates Philips SenseIQ smart pressure sensors, which automatically adjust the brushing intensity if a user applies too much pressure to protect teeth and gums.

“Philips Sonicare is opening a new era of oral care by making the invisible visible,” says Francesco Grillo, global business unit leader for oral healthcare at Philips, in a release. “For decades, people have been told how to brush better, yet most never truly knew how well they were brushing. With our Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 Prestige, we fundamentally reimagined the brushing experience by combining advanced sensing, real-time guidance and AI-powered personalization directly within the toothbrush itself.”

Extending Care Beyond the Clinic

The toothbrush offers eight modes and three intensities, allowing users to customize their brushing experience. According to the company, the device removes up to 20 times more plaque and results in 15 times healthier gums compared to manual brushing.

“Dental professionals know that a patient’s oral health is shaped by what happens during the six months between appointments, not just during the cleaning itself,” says Darren Coppe, marketing director for dental professional oral healthcare at Philips North America, in a release. “The Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 Prestige is designed to extend professional care beyond the chair by helping patients build better brushing habits at home.”

Design and Availability

The new model features a drivetrain previously introduced in the Sonicare 5000-7000 series, which provides a quieter motor. The toothbrush utilizes Sonicare Fluid Action to pulse fluid between teeth and along the gumline to support plaque removal.

The device features newly designed encapsulation for battery replacement and repairability, and it comes in paper-based packaging. The compatible brush heads are made with 70% bio-based plastic. It is available in three colors—silver white, satin mauve, and quartz black—and includes a rechargeable travel case and charging glass.

The Philips Sonicare Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 Prestige will be available for dental professionals in September 2026.
