Planmeca Romexis CAD/CAM software module has been designed to make capturing and working with digital impressions easier.

The module is part of the Planmeca Romexis all-in-one software, which ensures seamless daily workflows at a dental practice with all clinical patient data available in a single system.

The module features a scan-and-send workflow with which intraoral scans can be easily captured and sent to external partners for restoration design and manufacturing with a single click.

“With the new Romexis CAD/CAM module, intraoral scanning is exceptionally easy for new and more experienced users alike,” said Helianna Puhlin-Nurminen, vice president of digital imaging and applications at Planmeca. “We have paid special attention to usability and made collaborating with external partners extremely simple. The new module is thus a great tool for working with digital impressions and an excellent choice for dental practices looking to enter the world of digital dentistry.”

While new Planmeca Emerald or Planmeca Emerald S intraoral scanner users are guided by interactive Workflow Wizards with quick videos and helpful texts through the entire workflow, more experienced users can also benefit from the speed and usability of the scanning software.

With the new module, users can start scanning and decide later what they want to do with the impressions. It also allows working with more complex cases and, for example, scanning multiple bites and other scan types for a case within a single scanning session. The entire scanning process is faster and more comfortable for the patient as well.

Once the user has scanned everything, they can mark the margin lines with intuitive tools, analyze and measure the impressions, add bases to create 3D printable dental models, or send the scans to a dental laboratory or a 3rd party CAD software for restoration design and manufacturing.

The module will soon include a new tool for simulating orthodontic treatments. All steps of the workflow are divided into separate tabs, between which the user can move as they prefer.

“Since intraoral scans are stored and available in Romexis along with patient photos as well as 2D and 3D X-ray images, users can also easily complete digital smile designs, plan implant treatments and design surgical guides in the same software. Romexis simply makes your work flow,” said Puhlin-Nurminen.

The new Romexis CAD/CAM module is currently available for scanning only, i.e., for Planmeca Emerald intraoral scanner users who do not design or mill restorations in house.

For now, the entire restorative workflow from scanning to design and manufacturing can be carried out using the Planmeca PlanCAD Easysoftware.
