Ormco Corp, Orange, Calif, has launched SnapLink™, a new family of reconvertible buccal tubes designed to help clinicians gain more control for faster, more predictable posterior tooth movement while providing greater patient comfort.

Once converted, convertible buccal tubes require tying of ligatures, but the tieless SnapLink tube requires no additional ligatures, which, according to the company, enables fast, easy wire changes. SnapLink delivers the same control as a traditional four-walled tube without unwanted friction or binding. It works with any treatment mechanics and multiple appliances. Clinicians can convert the tube to engage second molars with either round or rectangular archwires while making compensating archwire bends or loops. They can also place auxiliaries like wire-to-wire Class II appliances while maintaining the patient’s natural wire sequence and without removing wires. The tube can be converted and reclosed as often as needed.

SnapLink’s slide design requires only a slight twist to open and transfers the reciprocal forces to the tube, not the tooth. The low-profile SnapLink tube features rounded corners and an angled high-retention hook that minimize occlusal interference while further contributing to patient comfort.
