The MDEA competition recognizes the achievements of medical devicemanufacturers, their suppliers, and the engineers, scientists,designers, and clinicians behind the products. An impartial,multidisciplinary panel of third-party jurors evaluates the entries onthe basis of their design and engineering features, including innovativeuse of materials, user-related functions that improve health caredelivery and change traditional medical attitudes or practices, featuresthat provide enhanced benefits to the patient, and the ability of theproduct development team to overcome design and engineering challengesso that the product meets its clinical objectives.
