Responding to a lawsuit from 3Shape claiming patent infringement on intraoral scanners, Carestream Dental called the complaint without merit.
Carestream Dental responded to a recent complaint filed by 3Shape against the company, claiming patent infringement on the design and functionality of its intraoral scanners.
In a statement, Carestream indicated that it believes the lawsuit and purported patent infringement claims are completely without merit and intends to defend itself against all claims vigorously.
In the complaint, 3Shape said that certain Carestream intraoral scanner models infringe the company’s patents related to wireless scanning, tooth color shade measurement, and the use of a handheld scanner wand as a remote control.
Carestream has been selling dental scanners since 2013 and stated it has respect for patents and the intellectual property of others.
The company has a policy not to discuss pending litigation and will continue to sell its products to customers without disruption.
