Align Technology Inc, San Jose, Calif, recently released its 1.5 software upgrade for the iTero Element® intraoral scanner. The software upgrade includes TimeLapse technology, which gives users the ability to compare patient scans over time. The technology provides users with enhanced visualization, assessment, and communication tools, according to the company.
TimeLapse technology allows users to compare a patient’s historic 3D scans to the present-day scan, enabling clinicians to identify and measure orthodontic movement, tooth wear, and gingival recession.
The company also announced that the software upgrade shortens patient scan time. According to the company, users can capture full mouth and bite scans in as little as 1 minute.
Additional features in this software upgrade include Multi-Bite scanning, Optimized Scan Feedback, quick shutdown, and color improvement.
