3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark, and OrthoApnea, the designer and manufacturer of oral appliances for sleep apnea and snoring, have created a 100% digital workflow and online communication system for doctors to provide sleep treatment to their patients.
The collaboration enables doctors using the 3Shape TRIOS intraoral scanner to upload their digital impressions to ApneaDock, an online platform developed by OrthoApnea.
The ApneaDock platform creates a one-click-away digital communication channel between 3Shape TRIOS doctors and OrthoApnea’s sleep therapies. According to 3Shape, the digital connection enables a faster production workflow, which in turn, gets patients into sleep therapy more quickly. Doctors can also use the channel to manage their cases and communicate with OrthoApnea technicians.
The ApneaDock platform includes a step-by-step tutorial for doctors on how to evaluate and assess patients, scan, take measurements, and order treatments. The platform also stores patients’ sleep treatment clinical history including all uploaded 3Shape scans.
“A few years ago, the American Dental Association began recommending doctors to assess their patients for sleep-breathing disorders. Our collaboration with OrthoApnea and its ApneaDock platform makes it simpler for doctors to provide their patients with sleep therapy and in turn, improve their quality of life,” says Rune Fisker, 3Shape vice president product strategy.
