The updated platform introduces new 3D visualization features, variable trimline options, and a redesigned prescription form based on doctor feedback.

Angelalign Technology Inc has released iOrtho Release 6.2, an update to its digital planning platform that introduces new visualization tools, flexible trimline options, and a redesigned prescription form for orthodontic treatments.

Updates to 3D Visualization

The update includes IRS (Intelligent Root System) Gold, which provides 3D visualizations of cortical and cancellous bone, the maxillary sinus, and airway structures to support case evaluation. The software also incorporates updated color mapping to help clinicians distinguish tissue types during case reviews.

“For over twenty years of aligner therapy, I’ve been waiting for a company like Angel—they let me combine CBCT with scans on every case to see roots and bone, plan more diagnostically, and routinely use single tooth movements to position teeth properly in the bone, rather than relying on AI gingival tissue alone,” says Dr Sandy Bigman, an orthodontist practicing in California, in a release.

Variable Trimline Options

The release integrates three trimline options directly into the prescription form: Standard (scalloped), Full-Arch High, and High at Posterior Teeth Only. Clinicians can select these options before the setup process begins. The platform also allows users to downgrade their trimline selection at the approval stage or upgrade from a posterior-only to a full-arch trimline.

“Angel Aligner offering to customize the aligner trimline has been a game changer. Being able to have a higher trimline has improved the outcome for patients with short clinical crowns,” says Dr Barbara Fodero, an orthodontist practicing in New Jersey, in a release.

Redesigned Prescription Form and Interface

With this release, Angel Aligner has redesigned the prescription form for both primary and refinement cases. The updated form expands the specifications clinicians can make at the point of prescription.

“It really comes down to the same question every release: how do we provide more value to our customers in treating all types of cases, from mild to complex with clear aligners,” says Brandy Long, head of clinical operations, North America at Angel Aligner, in a release.

Additionally, the 3D user interface has been updated to consolidate 3D modification tools, such as tooth, features, arch, and occlusal plane adjustments, into the top-right corner of the view for easier access.

Availability

The iOrtho Release 6.2 updates were developed based on direct feedback from orthodontists using the platform. The software went live on July 1 and is currently available to users.
