Prosthetic Smile

Den-Mat offers the Audition™, a removable prosthetic smile that allows patients to evaluate a trial of their new and improved smiles before committing to Lumineers® by Cerinate®. The Audition can be inserted during a consultation and given to patients to try on their own at home so they can witness the reactions of friends and family. Obturation Device

EI, Hu-Friedy’s new division, offers the EI DownPak Cordless Obturation Device with 3D Precision™ Technology that uses heat and vibration to soften, compact, and disperse obturation filling materials. The results are 3D coronal and apical seals for the reduction of post-root canal therapy complications such as pain and infection. DownPak is cordless and uses a wide variety of tips, including steel, ultrasoft, and NiTi designs. It may be used for softening and spreading root canal filling material laterally and vertically; compacting root canal filling material using vibration and heat, separately or in combination; cutting points (cones) of root canal filling materials; and cutting plastic obturator handles. Diode Laser

Great Lakes Orthodontics offers the Odyssey® 3Watt Diode Laser for soft-tissue applications and preventive care. The Odyssey 3Watt, manufactured by Ivoclar Vivadent, is a compact and portable laser engineered with a 810 ±20-nm wavelength. The laser exposes the surface of unerupted or partially erupted target teeth to facilitate early bracket placement, reducing treatment time. It is also effective for correcting gingival hyperplasia, according to the company. Hemostasis alleviates lesions associated with traditional soft-tissue modification. Bracket System

LeoneAmerica offers the Extremo® No-Nickel Bracket, which is biocompatible due to a very insignificant nickel content (<0.09%) and the total absence of chromium. Case-Acceptance Software

Disposable Mirrors

Pulpdent offers Flecta disposable mirrors packaged in boxes of 100 for easy inventory and storage. Flecta mirrors allow the clinician to use a new, scratch-free mirror for every patient. Bonding System

J. Morita offers Excel Bond LC, a self-etching bonding system that is designed to bond composites and compomers to enamel and dentin. The system contains two components that are mixed together and applied in a single step. Etching, priming, and bonding are accomplished in one application. Any type of light—LED, halogen, or plasma—can be used to cure Excel Bond LC. Since etching is not required, postoperative sensitivity is reduced, according to the company.

Dental Handpieces

Digital Panoramic Unit

Schick Technologies offers the CDRPanX-C digital panoramic unit. The cephalometric imaging system features a single-shot technology that reduces blurring while rendering images. The CDRPanX-C also features extensive vertical travel, three cephalometric imaging modes, and eight panoramic imaging modes with three laser-alignment beams. Interdental Brush

The Organization for Safety and Asepsis Procedures (OSAP) offers its training tool, If Saliva Were Red, on DVD. The program teaches proper infection-control technique through a graphic filmed demonstration in which the patient’s “saliva” contains red dye so that droplets, spray, and cross-contaminated surfaces can clearly be seen.
